The future of work and education

The current age places some very weird implications for the young adults (born between 2000-2007) – not sure how is it like outside of the US and China – how to best utilize the newest AI tools and create a future for themselves instead of waiting for any sort of full-time jobs/offers seems to be a much safer choice than ever before.

All desktop-related works are going to be fully agent-human collaborated starting from the end of 2025, and in 2026 every startup or AI-native companies definitely would hire at least 1 or 2 highly specialized AI agents working in the fields of design, coding, marketing, accounting, tax plannings etc. AI Agents mainly working as associates or VPs to assist Human boss for any kind of paperwork/computer-reliant work.

These young adults (originally being expected to be doing the AI agent’s work) facing such disruptions in workplace simply cannot choose to start from “analyst” or “associates” in their career planning – those traditional paths of becoming a professional in some field – will be long gone. If I were them, it seems the option to thrive in this age is obvious- to not taking any risk is the most risky move- treating AI as accelerators for my own development (may start my career directly as founder/ceo/cto) and partner-up with experienced mentors & advisors- seems to be one safe way out.

Entrepreneurship is a must skill for any young talents to thrive in the current years, especially for whom do not want to confine themselves with the speed of change under the big organizations. The changes will happen much more slowly in traditional sectors but the day will definitely come – and that could be some overnight changes. To react to those changes is already a step-back comparing to those proactively create the changes.

Sadly, looking across the world- very few education institution are actually setup to mainly “educate entrepreneurs” – the most well-known one probably is YC. One or 10 YCs simply not enough to cater 850million young adults entering into “workforce” aged from 18 to 24.

Teenagers from 14yo normally start to search meanings of their lives, some may even waking up earlier say starting from 8/9 yo- those with natural talents are already showing out around this period, especially the current AI tools are actually available to all people regardless of age.

Times for getting yourself “in shape” to compete with millions for getting into the “old school” Ivy Leagues or Tsinghua/PekingU would be long-gone… What taught in these colleges/schools are not the most important, the social network is what people are paying the tuitions for.

In years to count, our judgement systems for academic/professional excellence would be totally abolished and re-created. A new way of working, collaborating, living and learning definitely is in need, to create a foreseeable brighter future for young adults as well as anyone pursuing continuous learning. Elite schools, communities and institutions would still be there- so we could find each other smoothly without the noises- but would be in a much more open, equal way.
